Elders Quorum tree trimmers unite

President Gordon B. Hinckley said, “It will be a marvelous day, my brethren … when our priesthood quorums become an anchor of strength to every man belonging thereto, when each such man may appropriately be able to say, ‘I am a member of a priesthood quorum of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I stand ready to assist my brethren in all of their needs, as I am confident they stand ready to assist me in mine. Working together, we shall grow spiritually as covenant sons of God. Working together, we can stand, without embarrassment and without fear, against every wind of adversity that might blow, be it economic, social, or spiritual.’"
“Welfare Responsibilities of the Priesthood Quorums,” Ensign, Nov. 1977, 86.

Today, quorum members assisted another quorum member who needed help trimming trees in his yard.   Job well done, Elders.

Quorum service--adopt a highway

Adopt-A-Highway is a public service program for volunteers to pick up litter along Hawaii's State highways...to make a contribution to a cleaner State. In addition to a cleaner roadside, participants help to prevent pollutants from entering our storm drains, streams, and the ocean.

On 1/12/13 Saturday ward members picked up litter along Likelike and Kahekili Highways, which is the Elders Quroum's adopted sections of roadway.  Mahalo to all who participated for their service.

Elders Quorum Service: Adopt a Highway 11/10/12

Though there was just three today, our mission was accomplished.  This is part of our continuing commitment to keep our community trash-free via the Adopt-a-Highway program.  We go out on a Saturday morning every other month.  The next outing will be in Jan 2013.   Stay tuned.

Mosiah 5:15-- Therefore, I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works, that Christ, the Lord God omnipotent, may seal you his, that you may be brought to heaven, that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life, through the wisdom, and power, and justice, and mercy of him who created all things, in heaven and in earth, who is God above all. Amen.

EQ Service in Kahaluu

How many priesthood holders does it take to weedwhack a yard?  Well, it turns out the answer is ten, specifically two high priests, four Elders, and four of the Aaronic priesthood. This happened yesterday at the 2-acre property in Kahaluu of a member of the ward.  Starting at 7 a.m. (with a break for breakfast at 8 a.m.), the weedwhacking mission was accomplished in a couple of hours.   The EQ Presidency would like to thank all those that were able to come out and help. If you need help with anything please contact anyone of us. All of our information is listed under the tab above.

Service--Adopt a highway

Twelve is the number of Apostles in the Quorum of the Twelve.  Twelve is also the number of volunteers who came out to pick up trash along Likelike and Kahekili Highways today as part of our quorum's service to the community in the state's Adopt-a-Highway program.

Mahalo for your service!
“The Lord is keeping His promise to you as you keep yours. As you serve others for Him, He lets you feel His love. And in time, feelings of charity become part of your very nature. And you will receive the assurance of Mormon in your heart as you persist in serving others in life that all will be well with you.”  President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency, “A Witness,” Liahona and Ensign, Nov. 2011, 68.

Adopt-a-Highway Service Project 11/12/11

Mosiah 2:17  And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.
Our mission was to pick up trash along our adopted section of Likelike and Kahekili Highways in Kaneohe.  Working in three teams, we began at 7:45a.m. and were pau by 9:30.  All told, we picked up about a dozen bags of trash, which included hundreds of cigarette butts.  Good job and mahalo to all who turned out to help.
