Quorum Activity--Laulau making

Activities at the ward level bring Church members together as “fellowcitizens with the saints” (Ephesians 2:19). In addition to providing fun and entertainment, activities should build testimonies, strengthen families, and foster unity and personal growth.

Activities strengthen members by giving them a sense of belonging and mutual support. Activities should help members feel connected to others their age, to their leaders, and to their families. Activities should also help members see how living the gospel brings “the joy of the saints” (Enos 1:3).

The quorum organized an activity this evening to make laulaus at Bill Sellers' house.  This was a good opportunity to learn how to make laulaus (over 200 made) and to foster unity.

Recap: Kaneohe 1st Ward Turkey Trot 2012

Today's Turkey Trot was a success, with 18 participants on hand to see who could come closest to their predicted time for a run-course around Kaluapuhi Neighborhood Park (aka Souza Dairy Park).  The winners were Kaila Presbitero and Carla Oshiro, who both finished the course 20 seconds from their predicted times.  Lots of food, fellowship, and fun!

Elders Quorum Activity: Makapu'u Sunrise Hike

We had a wonderful activity EARLY this morning.  Meeting at 5am and starting the hike at 5:30 a.m., we started out as a group of four (Kanoa Kanahele, Gene Tamashiro, Dayle and Jacque Turner) and ended up as a group of twelve.  Eventually joining us were eight other church members.

Filipino Food Fest -- Elders Quorum Activity

Members of the quorum had an experience today that was "full" of the spirit at Thelma's Restaurant in Waipahu.  Brethren getting their fill of the spirit (and food) were Kanoa Kanahele, Ammon Kau, Damon Magalogo, Joshua Steffen, Gene Tamashiro, and Dayle Turner.

Brother Magalogo served a mission in the Philippines, so he was a good resource re: the food offered in Thelma's all-you-can-eat buffet ($12.50), which included a dish few of us had eaten before but which most of us tried today.  Although a dessert-like fruit dish was offered in the buffet and of which all of us partook, a few opted for additional dessert, namely halohalo (see Damon with his below) and banana lumpia.

In all, ono and a good time.

A future eating activity was discussed, with a top candidate for this activity being Kim Chee Restaurant in the Enchanted Lakes Shopping Center (Kailua).
